The Department of Physics at the University of Guelph is a dynamic and research-intensive academic unit within the College of Computational, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences.  It offers a comprehensive range of programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral levels, fostering a vibrant learning environment for students passionate about exploring the universe—from the subatomic to the cosmic scale. 

With 16 dedicated research and teaching faculty members, the department supports over 175 undergraduate and more than 40 graduate students. It is known for its strong emphasis on both teaching excellence and cutting-edge research. Faculty members are actively engaged in collaborations with prestigious institutions such as the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), NASA, the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, the Canadian Light Source, and TRIUMF.
