Nokom's House is a proposed land-based research lab in the University of Guelph Arboretum that will bring together three UoG community-engaged Indigenous scholars Dr. Sheri Longboat [1] (School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, OAC), Dr. Kim Anderson [2] (Family Relations & Applied Nutrition, CSAHS) and Dr. Brittany Luby [3] (History, COA) to explore questions of relationship in an interdisciplinary research environment. The construction of a sustainable Indigenous land-based research lab on campus in relationship to the land will be one of the first of its kind and embody the values that ground the research carried out within.
This will provide a place for academic research and a safe space for the Indigenous community to explore and celebrate their culture in the beautiful setting of the Arboretum.
