Required Qualifications:
Graduate level research and teaching experience in environmental sciences.
A strong understanding of ecological principles.
Familiarity with schools of environmental thought, conducting an environmental inventory, land classification, approaches to environmental decision-making, public consultation (esp. in southern Ontario) and current environmental issues.
Ability to explain the (English and Latin) identification of flora and fauna, and use of air photos, topographic maps, soil physiography and geology maps, official laws and zoning by-laws.
Ability to fairly and rapidly assess and grade student essays for content, proper grammar and spelling.
Preferred Qualifications:
Enthusiasm for teaching and learning.
Patience combined with consultation and guidance skills with and for students (some who may be unfamiliar with conducting an environmental inventory or other aspects of environmental science, decision-making and designations).
