Required Qualifications:
Applicants must:
Be enrolled in a Ph.D. program in an area of synthetic chemistry (Organic, Inorganic, Main Group).
Minimum two years of research experience.
Excellent Spectroscopy skills (NMR, ATR_FTIR, GC, GC-MS, UV-VIS, CV, Polarimetry).
Excellent laboratory, hazardous waste management and housekeeping skills.
Solid knowledge of the chemical literature.
Expertise with pyrophoric reagents, toxic gases, toxic/corrosive gases, photochemical reactor, microwave reactor, Schlenk lines, inert atmosphere techniques, inert atmosphere glove box.
Have completed a B.Sc. degree in chemistry.
Have experience demonstrating first year chemistry laboratories. (Chem 1040 and/or Chem 1050 or equivalent at another University)
Have completed the required safety courses. Lab Safety Training (EHS), WHMIS Training (EHS), Worker Health & Safety Awareness (EHS). Must complete additional safety training as prescribed.
Selection of successful candidates will be made in accordance with Article 11.04 of the CUPE 3913-1 collective agreement. Assignments to particular courses will be made in accordance with departmental needs and procedures.
