Other Duties Described: 
Under the supervision of the Associate Director, Office of Teaching and Learning and the Special Advisor to the President on Indigenous Initiatives, and in collaboration with, the Indigenous Initiatives Research Assistant, the Indigenous Instructional and Technical Student Assistant, and the Graduate Educational Developers in OTL, the successful candidates will be responsible for: · Researching and curating materials on topics of Indigenous curriculum and pedagogy · Developing best practice documents and tip sheets to support educational strategies · Working with course design teams to create storyboards including proofreading, editing, inserting images and references · Working with multimedia team to create videos and various multimedia assets using a variety of software programs · Working with the technical team to put material into an online format · Planning, developing and co-coordinating speakers, workshops and events on indigenization and decolonization in higher education, including summarizing feedback and evaluation forms to create reports for facilitator(s) and for future planning · Mentorship and development of the Indigenous Instructional and Technical Student Assistant. This can include, but is not limited to: co-supervision, feedback and evaluation · Attending weekly team meetings · Responding to and sending e-mails from the Indigenous Initiatives e-mail account
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 
The Indigenous Graduate Educational Developer position is geared toward graduate students who are interested in teaching and learning in higher education, with a specific focus on decolonization and indigenization of curriculum and pedagogy. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Teaching Assistant and an understanding of teaching and learning in higher education, by having already successfully completed the “Foundations” program. Having taken the graduate half credit course UNIV*6800 University Teaching, Theory and Practice (UTTP) is also an asset. In addition, candidates should possess: - Working knowledge of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and cultures and Indigenous affairs - Highly developed oral and written communication skills - Strong time management and project management skills - Skills in research, data collection and report writing - The ability to work well independently as well as on a team - The ability to accommodate flexible working hours for different projects - Be a registered graduate student at the Master’s or PhD level at the University of Guelph with at least a year of study remaining and able to commit to the Indigenous Educational Developer position for at least 1 year - Knowledge of, and respect for, disciplinary and cultural differences in teaching and learning - Demonstrated interest in university teaching - The ability to provide and give constructive feedback for improvement - Educational leadership experience or experience supporting professional development of other TAs (preferred) To apply for this position, please submit the following documents: - A one-to-two-page cover letter outlining your interest in this position plus the skills and experience you would bring to it - Also state when you plan to graduate from your program - A one-page description of a resource (tip sheet, multimedia assest), workshop topic, or programming opportunity focused on indigenization and decolonization in higher education that you would like to develop - A résumé or Curriculum Vitae (CV) highlighting your teaching, presentation, and/or facilitation experience - Successful applicants will be invited to an interview that will include a short teaching demonstration - Late applications will not be considered
