Required Qualifications:
Applicants must:
Be enrolled in a graduate program in an area of synthetic chemistry (Organic, Inorganic, Main Group).
Minimum one year of research experience conducting synthetic experiments at the graduate level.
Excellent Spectroscopy skills (NMR, ATR_FTIR, GC, GC-MS, UV-VIS, Polarimetry).
Excellent laboratory, hazardous waste management and housekeeping skills.
Solid knowledge of the chemical literature.
Experience with pyrophoric reagents, toxic gases, toxic/corrosive gases , Schlenk lines, inert atmosphere techniques.
Have completed a B.Sc. degree in chemistry.
Have experience demonstrating first year chemistry laboratories. (Chem 1040 and/or Chem 1050 or equivalent at another University)
Applicants must be able to provide documentation indicating they have completed the following training programs: Lab Safety Training (EHS), WHMIS Training (EHS), Worker Health & Safety Awareness (EHS), Accessible Service Provision (CourseLink) and Making Education Accessible (CourseLink). Must complete additional safety training as prescribed.
Selection of successful candidates will be made in accordance with Article 11.06 of the CUPE 3913-1 collective agreement. Assignments to particular courses will be made in accordance with departmental needs and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. Candidate in Synthetic Chemistry.
