Required Qualifications:
A Master of Bioinformatics, MSc degree with a focus on genetics or evolution, or similar qualification (e.g. PhD transfer student who has completed the Masters level bioinformatics coursework, PhD student who has previously used genomic data in MSc project). Must currently be in the PhD program in Bioinformatics or a related field. Prior experience with all or the majority of: Unix, high-performance computing, high-throughput genomic data, population genetics/genomics, and R. Must have good technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot analyses and error messages. Strong oral communication skills, as the TA will assist students during in-class tutorials and through office hours outside of class. Must possess excellent time management skills and attention to detail and be conscientious about grading and student feedback. By applying for this TA position, you are agreeing to be available from the start of the contract (January 6, 2022) to complete all assigned duties, available to attend all mandatory meetings, invigilation of exams as assigned, grade mid-term exams/papers, and be available to the end of the contract (May 2, 2022) to grade final exams/papers.
Two 0.50 TA positions are available. Applicants may apply to one or both. For Module #1, students should have experience with prokaryote genomics. For Module #2, applicants should have experience with eukaryote genomics. Please specify in your application which module you are applying for.
