Required Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in a PhD program in biology (or similar discipline) at the University of Guelph, eligible for employment in Unit 1 of Local 3913. This course will cover stress biology/welfare basics; the causes of stress (but also resilience) in wild animals facing climate change, urbanisation, boat noise etc.; some 'compassionate conservation' topics (eg how to reduce death rates during translocations); welfare in wild animals in captivity; and ways to refine working with animals in the field (e.g. trapping etc).
The TA can be remote, and will be responsible for helping with course content (making a background in stress biology important), monitoring discussion boards, and also grading assignments. By applying for this TA position, you are agreeing to be on campus and available from the start of the contract (January 4, 2024) to complete all assigned duties, available to attend all mandatory meetings, invigilation of IB exams as assigned, grade mid-term exams/papers, and be available to the end of the contract (April 30, 2024) to grade final exams/papers.
