Other Duties Described: 
The Experiential Learning for Problem Discovery in Cybersecurity Commercialization Projects is a 12-week program designed to equip graduate students with relevant work experience, industry partner connections, interviewing practice, and problem-solving skills in the cybersecurity field. The program focuses on problem discovery and explores best practices for customer discovery, practical outreach exercises, interviews with industry partners, and workshops on defining key problems, exploring how problems are related, and possible solutions for best outcomes. Phase 1 of the course will introduce participants to best practices for customer discovery. It includes an introductory lecture followed by practical exercises aimed at getting students comfortable with outreach, interviewing, and follow-up. This phase lasts for two weeks. Phase 2 of the program will transition into several weeks of group interviews with members of the cybersecurity board / emerging leaders affiliates. The first few weeks will be facilitated by the instructor, but student involvement will be encouraged. After a few weeks, the facilitation role will be opened up to student participants interested in trying. This phase lasts for eight weeks. Phase 3 of the program will focus on wrapping up and talking about next steps. It will start with a workshop on reviewing what was heard over the summer, defining key problems, and exploring how these problems are related. To wrap things up, a session will be held on Mitacs Accelerate and eAccelerate programs, and application best practices. This phase lasts for two weeks. The course's key goal is to seed Mitacs projects while providing graduate students with relevant work experience and career opportunities post-graduation. Although the program is unpaid, it is designed to help participants secure future paid internships through Mitacs. Upon completion of the course, participants will have the skills and connections necessary to excel in the cybersecurity industry.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 
• As per the Collective Agreement, must be enrolled as a student in the Summer 2025 semester. • Must be available to support scheduled office hours throughout the entire semester and be available to moderate forums or discussions, if applicable, as assigned by the instructor. • Must have excellent writing skills and be able to effectively critique student assignments in writing. • The ability to communicate advanced programming concepts to students effectively, both verbally and in writing. • Well-versed in AI/Machine Learning methods. • Experience with AI/Machine Learning tools. • Must be able to manage the labs and hands-on activities required by the course.
Preferred Qualifications: 
• Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, Security Operations Center, and privacy. • Familiarity with cybersecurity vulnerabilities. • Ability to answer student queries, and manage an online forum. • Ability to grade assignments, and use online Courselink rubrics.
