Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
It is important that the GTA: 1) has some graduate education in social sciences and knowledge of critical theoretical perspectives, ideally in the field of gender studies but it is not required). Since this is a reading intensive 4th year course, it is preferable that the GTA is sufficiently familiar with the topics and comfortable engaging the material; 2) is ready and open to being in regular touch with the instructor during the term (as needed), and work with her; 3) has previous marking experience (preferably in Sociology and/or Criminology); is able to complete marking of the assignments as per the instructor's guidelines and the grading rubric and to effectively comment on student work; and 5) is able to turn grading around in a timely fashion.
Preferred Qualifications:
It would be beneficial for the course and also an efficient and productive teaching assistantship for the GTA if they are familiar with the foundational texts in the sociological and feminist literature of gender violence and newer critical scholarship on contemporary social and political issues in this field. Thank you for your time and consideration.
