When applying for this work assignment, please be aware that the delivery of the Statistics Learning Centre will be in-person. Candidate will be required to work in-person during regular Statistics Learning Centre hours (Monday/Wednesday 9:30AM - 3:30PM, Tuesday/Thursday 10:00AM - 4:00PM, and Friday 9:30AM - 2:30PM EST) as required.

Other Duties Described: 
Duties for TA work assignments in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics include other administrative duties (dept. and final exam invigilation and course evaluations, and other departmental duties specified by the Chair). Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Training must be completed. If you have not already done so, complete the three (3) mandatory administrative courses and upload your certificates of completion to your Work Assignment profile.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 
Graduate student in Mathematics, Statistics or Mathematical Sciences. A thorough understanding of the material in introductory level statistics courses (STAT*1200, STAT*2040, STAT*2050, STAT*2060, STAT*2080 and STAT*2120). The ability to tutor students helping them understand the material without doing the work for them.
Preferred Qualifications: 
Demonstrated excellence in mathematical and statistical reasoning and ability, especially as directly related to this job position. Experience and demonstrated excellence in past TA duties or tutoring roles. Excellent communication skills.
Days Required and Wages
Days and Times Required: 
The schedule for the Statistics Learning Centre will be determined near the beginning of the semester. Candidates must be able to commit to working 5 hours (not necessarily consecutively) each week, during the Statistics Learning Centre operating times of approximately 9:30AM to 4:00PM. Operating hours of the Statistics Learning Centre: Monday/Wednesday 9:30AM - 3:30PM, Tuesday/Thursday 10:00AM - 4:00PM, and Friday 9:30AM - 2:30PM EDT. Please note the amended end date for this position has been updated to January 7, 2027. Also note the university holiday closure from December 24, 2026 until January 3, 2027, you will not be expected to work during that time. Be prepared to return to work for this work assignment on January 4th to January 7th.
