Required Qualifications:
Graduate students at the University of Guelph eligible for employment in Unit 1 of Local 3913. Applicants must be available on campus throughout the full contract period to complete all required duties. These include attending lectures on Mondays and Wednesdays from either 9:30–10:20 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.–12:20 p.m.; attending a mandatory weekly in-person TA meeting, typically scheduled on Thursday or Friday; and independently leading three to five in-person seminars each week at assigned times. Additional duties include grading seminar assignments and invigilating examinations, which may be scheduled during evenings or on weekends. Applicants should apply only if they are able to meet all required in-person scheduling commitments. Candidates must be able to work effectively as part of an instructional team that includes other TAs, a course coordinator, and two instructors. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English, and be able to follow marking guidelines and provide accurate and consistent marking, written feedback, and timely completion of assigned work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Able to convey enthusiasm for biology to students from wide ranging programs. Ability to mentor senior undergraduate students.
