Graduate students at the University of Guelph, eligible for employment in Unit 1 of Local 913. Applicants will be responsible for: leading tutorials, labs, and office hours, Teach and support students in programming and data analysis concepts, assist students with data wrangling, cleaning, transformation, and visualization tasks, provide guidance on the use of R for statistical analysis and programming, support version control workflows using Git and GitHub, grade assignments, projects, and assessments in a timely manner, help develop and maintain instructional materials, exercises, and examples and collaborate with the course instructor to enhance student learning outcomes. Applicants must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), advanced skills in data analysis and data wrangling, strong proficiency in R programming, experience using Git and GitHub for version control and collaboration, demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, or support students learning programming and strong organizational skills and attention to detail. By applying for this TA position, you are agreeing to be available from the start of the contract to complete all assigned duties, including some lecturing/class prep, available to attend all mandatory meetings, be fully flexible and available for multiple weekly meetings with student working groups, and serve as a statistical consultant on experimental design, coding, and analysis. TA’s must also be available to invigilate IB exams and be available to the end of the contract to grade final papers.
