May include shifts in the Chemistry Learning Center (CLC) supporting 1st year students, CourseLink monitoring and Discussion moderation, and other duties as assigned based on the operational requirements of the lab components and course grading, etc.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 
Applicants must: a) Be enrolled in a B.Sc. program with a major in CHEM, CHEM:C, BPCH, BPCH:C, BTOX, BTOX:C, BIOC or BIOC:C, b) Be in their seventh (7th) academic semester of study (or higher), c) Have successfully earned a minimum of 15 credits, d) Have successfully completed CHEM*2480 or CHEM*2400, e) Be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for teaching, f) Be able to demonstrate an ability to create and maintain a safe work place, g) Be able to complete assigned duties as instructed in an efficient and timely manner, and, h) Applicants must also be able to provide documentation indicating they have completed the following training programs: Lab Safety Training (EHS), WHMIS Training (EHS), Worker Health & Safety Awareness (EHS), Accessible Service Provision (CourseLink) and Making Education Accessible (CourseLink). Selection of successful candidates will be made in accordance with Article 11.04 of the CUPE 3913-1 collective agreement. Assignments to particular courses will be made in accordance with departmental needs and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications: 
a) Be enrolled in a Department of Chemistry undergraduate program, b) Have successfully completed CHEM*2480 or CHEM*2400 with a lab grade of 80% or higher, c) Have an overall average GPA of 80% or higher, d) Have successfully completed CHEM*2700.
Days Required and Wages
Days and Times Required: 
Must be available during the week of September 8-11th, 2026, to attend an introductory TA meeting. Must be available on Fridays between the hours of 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm for mandatory training. Other days and times as assigned, including CLC shifts. See Webadvisor for possible lab section times. Please note: By applying for this work assignment, you are agreeing to be available on campus from the start of the contract to complete all assigned duties, available to attend all mandatory meetings, complete accurate and consistent marking by assigned deadlines with written feedback, cover Chemistry Learning Center (CLC) shifts, invigilate and grade midterm exams, and be available to the end of the contract to invigilate and grade final exams. Due to the large class size, all TAs should expect to be assigned some evening labs, and although every effort will be made to assign TAs to their preferred days/times, we cannot guarantee to meet your preference. You should be prepared to accept any available laboratory section, except for incidences when an assignment conflicts with a graduate course for which you are enrolled. Under "Other Experience Or Qualifications That May Be Applicable For This Work Assignment", please note any dates/times when you are NOT available to work, and the reasons, otherwise we will assume you are available anytime.
