U of G Co-op Program Reaches Historic 50,000th Work Term Milestone
50,000 Work Terms & Growing
The University of Guelph’s Co-operative Education team has achieved a remarkable milestone, facilitating its 50,000th co-op work term for a student.
This significant milestone was secured by a Computer Engineering student, who will join Brock Solutions as a Controls Systems Engineer this winter. It’s fitting that this achievement involves Brock Solutions, a long-standing supporter of U of G’s co-op program.
Since partnering with U of G in 2015, Brock Solutions has hired 89 co-op students across diverse roles, including Software Developers, Buyers, Engineers, HR Associates, and more. They also hold the distinction of being the employer with the longest history of attending the Partnerships for Employment Job Fair.
From 22 Students to Over 7,000
The growth of U of G’s co-op program has been extraordinary. In 1982, just 22 students from 10 programs participated in co-op work terms. Today, the program boasts over 7,000 students across more than 65 programs, making it the 2nd largest co-op program in Ontario.
This milestone reflects decades of collaboration between students, employers, and the university, creating opportunities that launch careers and strengthen industry partnerships.
