Biography

Dr. Hwansuk Chris Choi is a distinguished scholar and visionary leader in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Currently a Professor at the University of Guelph, Dr. Choi’s academic journey began in Seoul, Korea, where he earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Chung-Ang University, a foundation that continues to inform his analytical approach to consumer behavior and ethics. After relocating to the United States in 1991, he obtained his Master of Tourism Administration (MTA) from George Washington University, followed by a Ph.D. in Tourism Marketing and Management from Texas A&M University. Before transitioning to academia in 2003, Dr. Choi honed his strategic expertise through years of high-level industry consulting.

With an expansive portfolio of over 300 publications and technical reports, Dr. Choi has secured over $4 million in research funding through more than 50 prestigious grants. His pioneering work, particularly in sustainable tourism and strategic marketing, has earned numerous "Best Paper" awards and has fundamentally shaped global industry policies. A sought-after keynote speaker at international conferences, he is equally committed to mentorship, having guided a generation of graduate students and visiting scholars toward excellence.
