The Lang Scholars Entrance Scholarships were established in 2020 as part of a transformative $21 million gift by Stu and Kim Lang to name the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics in honour of Stu’s father. Redefining business education, the vision of the Lang School is to be recognized globally for our commitment to developing future leaders for a more sustainable world.
As the founder of CCL Industries in 1951, the world ’s largest label manufacturers, Gordon S. Lang is a true Canadian success story. A man of values and principle, he embodied all of the characteristics that make U of G business students special; humble, hardworking, entrepreneurial and resilient.
These scholarships aim to attract students who demonstrate a commitment to being ethical and responsible leaders, to community involvement, and who view business as a force for good that can create a more sustainable world.
The chosen Lang Scholars will embody the Lang School's vision of being a leader for a sustainable world.

Nine (9) scholarships of $5,000 each are offered to attract students who demonstrate a commitment to being ethical and responsible leaders, to community involvement, and who view business as a force for good that can create a more sustainable world. Students entering an undergraduate Lang degree program with a minimum of 80% admission average will be selected based on: contributions to their communities as evidenced through positions held, extra-curricular activities, involvement in high school and communities, academic achievement, response to a short essay question, and reference support. Scholarship recipients, who will be known as Lang Scholars, will be invited to participate in various School events. This prestigious doctoral scholarship was established in 2019 as part of a transformative $21 million gift by Stu and Kim Lang to name the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics to honour Stu’s father. Redefining business education, the vision of the Lang School is to be recognized globally for our commitment to developing future leaders for a more sustainable world.
Five (5) scholarships of $20,000 each are offered to outstanding students who demonstrate a commitment to being ethical and responsible leaders, to community involvement, and who view business as a force for good that can create a more sustainable world. Applicants entering the Lang doctoral program must demonstrate: a high level of academic achievement (i.e., first-class (“A-”) admission average); strong research skills and potential; leadership within and/or beyond the academic community; and strong alignment with the vision of the Lang School.
Scholarship recipients, who will be known as Lang Scholars, will be invited to serve as mentors to future award winners and to participate in various School events.

Redefining business education, the vision of the Lang School is to be recognized globally for our commitment to developing future leaders for a more sustainable world.
Four (4) scholarships of $20,000 each (two MBA and two MA Leadership) are offered to attract students who demonstrate a commitment to being ethical and responsible leaders, to community involvement, and who view business as a force for good that can create a more sustainable world. Students entering the Lang MBA or MA Leadership degree program will be selected based on; demonstration of excellence in management, administration or leadership, high academic achievement, and evidence of leadership outside of their career (e.g. volunteer work, community service). Scholarship recipients, who will be known as Lang Scholars, will be invited to participate in various School events.

Lang Student Award Celebration
The annual Student Award Celebration provides an opportunity for the Lang community to celebrate the accomplishments of Lang scholarship recipients and the generosity of donors. The event aims to further the professional relationship of the student and donor, beyond their monetary donation.
