The Lang MBA

The Lang MBA will enhance your business acumen while inspiring you to become a responsible and ethical leader. The Lang MBA is offered in two formats:

Transformative 2-Year Online MBA 

The two-year online MBA program is designed to fit around a full-time professional work schedule, while still providing a fulfilling and challenging academic experience. Students focus on one course at a time, allowing you to focus your time and efforts. 

Accelerated 1-Year On-Campus MBA

The one-year in-person MBA is designed to provide recent university graduates with an intensive program, delivered in-person at our University of Guelph campus, which prepares them for the professional world.

Lang MBA program - At a glance:

  • Program Duration: 12 months (in-person format) and 24 months (online pathway)
  • Program Start: Each May, with an immersive on-campus experience at the Lang Graduate Conference
  • Specialization Focus: Master sustainable leadership and drive global impact across industries

Academic Requirements

  • A four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited university
  • A minimum B– average in the final two years of your undergraduate degree.
  • Applicants who are graduates of a 4-year undergraduate business degree (Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration or equivalent) or who hold a professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, PMP) may be eligible for a waiver of certain program requirements, at the discretion of the MBA Program Coordinator.

Work Requirements

  • Applicants to the 2-year online MBA for working professionals must demonstrate a record of prior work experience, typically involving three or more years of supervisory and managerial responsibility.
  • The one-year in-person MBA for recent graduates does not require prior work experience. However, preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated record of relevant work experience and/or experiential learning activities (e.g. co-op, internships, consulting projects).

English language Requirements

  • If an applicant’s first language is not English, or their undergraduate degree was not taught at an English-language institution, an English Language Proficiency test will be required.

Advanced Standing

The University of Guelph gives advanced standing for students who have completed graduate-level courses. A maximum of two courses will be considered for advanced standing credit. For more information, please see the University of Guelph's Graduate Studies website.

Guaranteed Admission Pathway into the Lang Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The Guaranteed Admission Pathway (GAP) is designed to take you directly from your undergraduate degree into Lang's in-person, one-year MBA.

Admission to the Lang MBA is competitive, but as an approved GAP applicant, you will be guaranteed admission and won't have to compete with external applicants for a spot in the program.  The GAP gives you peace of mind that admission to the Lang MBA is waiting for you at the end of your undergraduate studies.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Lang MBA’s Guaranteed Admission Pathway, you must:

  • Be enrolled (or enrolling) in a 4-year honours program at the University of Guelph or University of Guelph-Humber; OR
  • Have graduated within the last 3 years from  4-year honours program at the University of Guelph or University of Guelph-Humber; AND
  • Meet the minimum admission requirements for the Lang MBA at the time of entry into the MBA.

To better support your application planning, Lang has introduced a new round-based admissions process:

  • Round 1: Apply by September 15, 2025
  • Round 2: Apply by November 1, 2025
  • Round 3: Apply by January 15, 2026

Now accepting applications for May 2026 entry.

An application fee of $150 CAD is payable to the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) directly when submitting your application. This application fee cannot be waived.

Graduate fees (including non-tuition program costs) are listed on the Graduate Tuition and Fees webpage.

The cost of the Lang MBA program covers everything you need to successfully complete the program, including:
• Tuition and supporting course materials
• Meals and accommodation during the annual Lang Grad Conference 

Entrance Scholarships

Lang Graduate Executive Programs Entrance Scholarship           

Selected recipients (2) will receive $20,000 which is awarded over three semesters beginning in the summer.

Eligibility Criteria: Students entering the MBA program in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics Executive Programs with demonstrated leadership, academic and professional excellence.

Canadian Resident Loans

For details on provincial student aid (such as OSAP for Ontario residents), please contact Student Financial Services for personalized support and guidance.

International Students

International students may research the NAFSA web page. Students have been successful in obtaining loans through these organizations, specifically if they have a United States resident who is willing to co-sign with them.

Get ahead by submitting your tuition loan pre-approval alongside your application. While credit approval does not guarantee admission into the University of Guelph’s Lang MBA program, early financial planning streamlines your journey and positions you for success.

Our Global Pre-Arrival Support team assists with everything from study permit guidance to settling into campus life. With faculty representing over 40 countries and a welcoming, globally minded community, you will find the support, diversity, and resources needed to thrive personally and professionally.

The In-person MBA meets Canadian Immigration and Citizenship’s eligibility criteria for international students to obtain a study permit and a post-graduate work permit. For more information, please contact Canadian Immigration directly. 

The Online MBA for working professionals does not meet Canadian Immigration and Citizenship’s eligibility criteria for international students to obtain a study permit, as the courses are delivered online. International students should apply for a Visitor’s Visa to attend the in-person experiences.
