The Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) is pleased to announce that Dr. Christine Baes has been appointed Associate Dean (External Relations), effective January 1, 2026, for a five-year term.

Christine previously served in this role on an interim basis, during which she advanced OAC’s external engagement strategy, strategically strengthened donor relations, and led new initiatives such as the recent Protein Innovation Day at the University of Guelph. Her leadership laid important groundwork for OAC’s next phase of growth.

In this role, Christine will focus on strengthening OAC’s industry partnerships, enhancing international collaborations, and growing fundraising efforts to advance the College’s priorities. Her extensive relationships across the agri-food sector, paired with her collaborative approach, position her well to expand OAC’s external impact.

A Canada Research Chair in Livestock Genomics, Christine is internationally recognized for her expertise in quantitative genetics, statistical genomics, and the design and execution of large-scale breeding programs in various species.

With Christine moving into this role, Dr. Grégoy Bédécarrats has been named Interim Chair of the Department of Animal Biosciences. Grégoy is a long-standing faculty member and a recognized researcher in poultry physiology.

Please join us in congratulating Christine and Grégoy on their appointments.
