Discovering your passion for animals and agriculture at U of G.
Considering joining U of G next year? Discover international student Anushka Manjrekar’s experience studying agricultural science in OAC.
Coming to Canada from Mumbai, India, U of G student Anushka Manjrekar arrived in Canada with an interest in studying animals and a curiosity about agriculture. Originally drawn to U of G for its strong reputation in animal and veterinary science, she discovered that studying Agricultural Science at U of G’s Ontario Agricultural College can open the door to broad and exciting set of opportunities beyond vet science - pursuing a career that's always in demand.
Anushka is confident she chose the right program (and community) that aligns with her career interests and goals.

“What really makes OAC special is its large community and network, followed by the amazing traditions we have. Traditions like our OAC leather jackets, student clubs and events like College Royal are what makes the community here so great.”

U of G's International Student Experience
From her first days on campus, she found a welcoming, diverse environment where students are “ambitious, persevering, and approachable.”
That supportive culture opened the door to hands-on experiences that helped shape her career goals. Anushka has volunteered in a professor’s research lab, worked directly with horses through a paid summer internship, and took on leadership roles, welcoming new students.
“I worked in a professor’s animal biology lab as part of a course. The research was mainly focused on the behaviour and nutrition of kittens! It was really interesting.”

Although her experiences at U of G were all very different, they helped Anushka “build a sense of belonging while gaining exciting new skills,” she shares. Her academic experiences in OAC have also been inspiring.
“My courses in animal science and agriculture are highly diverse and really encouraged me to push beyond my limits,” says Anushka.
She credits her courses with sparking her passion for research and her goal of pursuing her master’s degree at U of G.

Anushka's advice to future international students:
"Try everything at least once! If you already like it, you will love it, and if you start liking it then you have found yet another exciting path towards your future!"
