Profile

Dr. Ampuero earned her veterinary degree from the University of São Paulo in Brazil and obtained certification from the American College of Veterinary Pathology after completing a doctorate in veterinary science at the University of Guelph. Her journey in anatomic pathology of wildlife began while still an undergraduate student, when she did research on free ranging howler monkeys, and continued during her post graduate studies with extensive training in anatomic pathology of a broad range of species and experimental research focused on infectious diseases of wild birds. Outside her work, Fernanda enjoys spending quality time with family, playing music, and building Legos.

Research Interests

  • Diseases and diagnostic pathology of wildlife, zoo animals, and exotic pets
  • Development of novel diagnostic tools for non-domestic species
