About

The OVC Scholarships & Fellowships Program is funded by the Government of Ontario to support new graduate growth for Canadian citizens and permanent residents. The program provides competitive stipend support for selected high caliber full-time thesis-based master's and PhD students.

Details

OVC offers Scholarships and Fellowships to high achieving applicants who are Canadian or Permanent Residents entering full-time OVC masters or doctoral thesis-based studies. Scholarships are available in W26, S26 and F26 semesters. These Scholarships and Fellowships range from $25,000 to $73,000 total for the duration of the program for the duration of the program, and applications are evaluated based on academic excellence, research potential, and personal/interpersonal skills.

Applications from students transferring from one OVC Graduate Program to another OVC Graduate Program may be considered.

NEW 2026: Scholarships are also available to International Students conducting research related to felines.

Note: Students must remain registered full-time and maintain satisfactory progress for the duration of the OVC Graduate Scholarship, Fellowship, or Award to maintain funding.

Process and Deadline

Step One: Apply for your graduate program through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC)

Prospective students to thesis-based programs must secure a faculty advisor prior to submitting an application. The deadline to initiate an OUAC application to be eligible to submit a separate application for an OVC Scholarship or Fellowship is December 19, 2025.

Step Two: Learn more and apply for funding

Once you have initiated an OUAC application you will receive your WebAdvisor login (U of Guelph credentials/email) and will have access to view additional details and complete an eApplication for a Scholarship or Fellowship, due January 13, 2026.

Notes

  • Graduate school applications must be completed through WebAdvisor (i.e. not simply the OUAC application)
  • All applicants MUST use the OVC CV module template for their OUAC application. Applicants will receive this template via email after initiating their OUAC application.
  • Direct entry students must confirm that referees, identified in OUAC Application, have received links to complete their referee assessments, which are due January 27, 2026
  • All information is contained on the OVC Intranet, including the Competition Announcement and Program Description (requires U of Guelph email, which you will receive upon submitting your OUAC application)
