Co-op

Co-op fees are assessed in each four-month academic semester beginning in semester 1 and are specific to the degree of study.

Associate diploma co-op programs are charged the co-op academic fee for semesters 1 and 2 and are not charged a co-op work term fee during their work term.

Undergraduate degree programs are charged 8 co-op academic fees plus all registered co-op work terms.

Undergraduate students on two consecutive (8 months total) or three consecutive (12 months total) co-op work terms will be charged the amount indicated below for each four-month term, up to 8 co-op academic fees plus all registered co-op work terms.

Additionally, an undergraduate student registered for an academic course during a co-op work term will be billed both the co-op academic and the co-op work term fees. If registered in an academic course during an OFF semester, the co-op academic fee will be charged. In both cases, the co-op academic fee will count towards the 8 required co-op academic fees.

The co-op academic fee is refundable in the 100% Tuition Refund period (indicated in the Refund Schedule) if the student drops all of their courses for the semester but remains in the co-op program. For students withdrawing from the co-op program prior to accepting a second work term, the current semester’s co-op academic fee is refundable within the first 15 days of that semester; please see the appropriate calendar (Associate Diploma Calender or Undergraduate Calendar) and the Policy Agreement for Student Involvement in Co-operative Education for more information.

Undergraduate students withdrawing from co-op after accepting a second co-op work term (meaning 2 (4-month), 1 (8-month) or 1 (12-month) work term) will result in the student being responsible for paying the balance of their remaining co-op academic fees at the time of withdrawal. A student who withdraws from the co-op program prior to accepting a second co-op work term will not be credited for fees paid in previous semesters.

As outlined in the Statement of Financial Responsibility, students understand that having an overdue balance on their student financial account may have both academic and non-academic consequences (financial sanction), including, without limitation, the withholding of their degree and/or transcripts of grades and registration changes for current and subsequent semesters.

Effective May 2019, students on a co-op work term will receive a 0.50 academic credit. There will not be a tuition fee associated with the co-op work term academic credit when calculating student bills for tuition and fees. Therefore, the co-op work term credit will not be included when determining course load for the purposes of OSAP and all other financial aid programs.
