The School of Computer Science is committed to ensuring that our students are provided with a high standard of teaching excellence. Part of this commitment is the distribution of Teaching Assistant resources to course sections in a fair and transparent manner. Resources within the the School of Computer Science will be distributed in a fair manner that takes into consideration: Level of course; Pedagogical requirements of the course including use of seminars, tutorials, and laboratories; Delivery method and requirements (e.g., Distance education vs. in-class course formats); Number of students; Workload considerations (including the overall workload of instructor); Department and College norms; and, Budgetary constraints. It is expected that the number of teaching assistants assigned to courses may vary from offering to offering based on the above factors. Distribution of teaching assistant resources is determined by the Chair/Director. Requests for teaching assistant resources should be made as soon as practicable.

Masters degree in Computer Science
Prior Teaching Experience:

Experience teaching a large undergraduate comports science course with a focus on systems-level programming.
Required competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
Strong knowledge of C and Python; Demonstrated experience creating and running automated test harnesses in C or Python; Familiarity with unit testing frameworks (e.g., check, pytest); Experience with software integration tasks, especially involving C and Python interoperability; Experience using Git; Demonstrated expertise and in-depth knowledge of the topics covered, including: (1) Designing modular software components and integrating them into larger systems, (2) Integrating software components, including those written in different programming languages, into cohesive software systems, (3) Implementing data storage solutions to support software functionality, and (4) Applying quality assurance and systematic testing techniques using modern testing frameworks.

PhD in in Computer Science (completed or in-progress)
Prior Teaching Experience: 
Successful teaching related to field at college or university level.
Many years of successful teaching related to contents of the course.
Specific Preferred competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; Prior experience with automated course feedback tools; Prior experience using tools like forums and drop boxes in a course setting; Prior experience managing a support queue including creating and assigning tickets and estimating times for task completion; Demonstrated ability to coordinate large TA teams.
