This course presents leadership theories and research findings, teaches students to apply leadership theories and concepts, emphasizes the development of leadership skills, and examines the importance of communication and the communication process. As such, the instructor must have significant experience in the field, in addition to successful experience teaching adult learners in an online environment.

Candidates should provide in their application evidence of prior teaching experience and teaching success/excellence related to course content, which may include a dossier, teaching philosophy, examples of teaching innovations, course developments, evaluations of previously taught courses (e.g., peer evaluations and/or student feedback), reference letters, and any other relevant information they wish to have evaluated by the selection committee (some documents on file in the department or program, such as UofGH Student Feedback Questionnaires of courses taught on UofG contracts, may also be used). Experience teaching adult learners in online environments, with a demonstrated ability to effectively deliver condensed course content to learners possessing advanced knowledge and professional experience in the course topic. Professional leadership experience—such as managing teams, driving organizational change, or leading strategic initiatives—with the ability to apply leadership, motivation, and communication concepts to workplace-focused learning for post-secondary students. Research background in leadership theory and practice, with a record of scholarly publications or applied research in organizational development or related fields.

Section DE03 (Session II): This is a distance education course offering. As such, significant online monitoring, supervision and feedback related to student learning activities is required.
