This is a large, introductory-level creative writing lecture course that involves lecturing on various aspects of the craft of fiction, supplementing the course textbook with additional readings, and offering students a wide range of writing exercises. A template for the course, including readings, exists. TAs conduct the workshop portion of the class.

Required competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
The University of Guelph Creative Writing MFA seeks an instructor with expertise in creative writing. The successful applicant must have extensive published work in the field.

Prior Teaching Experience: 
Successful teaching related to field at college or university level.
Research Experience: 
Quality and or Recent Research activity in related field demonstrating knowledge of current developments in course content.
Specific Preferred competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
Evidence of ongoing creative work in the field. Familiar with and capable of writing and addressing the craft of writing in various forms. Ability to introduce a diverse range of reading material and to consider the cultural implications of writing, particularly with respect to marginalized cultural positions, is an asset. Experience teaching in a large-course format is an asset.
