Other Course Description or Assignment Information: 
This course introduces students to some of the major religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Daoism, and Shinto) that originated in Asia. Students will study the history, sacred texts, practices, and beliefs of these traditions within the political and cultural contexts of India, Tibet, China, and Japan. The course also considers the cultural influence and philosophical salience of these religions in contemporary North America.
