This course provides students with a conceptual framework for designing curriculum that fosters the strengths and needs of children with exceptionalities. The importance of fostering development through a strengths-based approach is stressed as a variety of curriculum resources are explored. Students apply theory as they design, modify, adapt, and implement and evaluate appropriate learning experiences for children with exceptionalities in an early childhood setting. Work experience related to field. Knowledge and/or expertise in the content of the course (through research, education or professional experience). Evidence of successful teaching in an online course (i.e. a course that has been specifically developed for Distance Education).

Specific Preferred competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
Candidates should provide in their application evidence of prior teaching experience and teaching success/excellence related to course content, which may include a dossier, teaching philosophy, examples of teaching innovations, course developments, evaluations of previously taught courses (e.g., peer evaluations and/or student feedback), reference letters, and any other relevant information they wish to have evaluated by the selection committee (some documents on file in the department or program, such as UofGH Student Feedback Questionnaires of courses taught on UofG contracts, may also be used). Registered as an Early Childhood Educator. Demonstrated strong familiarity with current research in the field of Early Childhood Studies and directly related to the content of the course. Evidence of fostering a supportive learning environment/community, such as responsiveness, engagement and adaptability, including creating a safe space for students to voice their questions/concerns.

Section DE01, DE02, DE03, DE04, DE05 & DE06: This is a distance education course offering. As such, significant online monitoring, supervision and feedback related to student learning activities is required.
Period of the Work Agreement (Start Date and End Date):
