Other Course Description or Assignment Information: 
The purpose of this course is to provide students who have an interest in social development with an avenue for linking that interest to the planning and intervention process in rural environments. To accomplish this goal, the course will examine the relationship of social policy and theory to planning in rural society. Present and future social need (trends) and appropriate intervention strategies for satisfying that need will be discussed. The course will be a combination of scholarly examination and practical application of scholarly theory.

Required Qualifications
Degree: 
Masters related to field
Prior Teaching Experience: 
Successful teaching related to field at college or university level
Prior experience working with and instructing graduate students is an asset.
Required competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
Experience working in the field of planning. Expertise in the social impacts of planning processes/decisions on various populations and current planning systems and their impacts on various populations.
