This course examines the causes and effects of important diseases of food animals in Canada, with a focus on dairy cattle. Elements of physiology, epidemiology, microbiology, nutrition, and production management are integrated into a health management approach emphasizing disease prevention. The course is directed at senior undergraduate students with interest in and knowledge of food animal production agriculture. ****. The University of Guelph promotes a healthy campus. Required Qualifications
Degree: 
PhD related to field
DVM
DVM + PhD/DVSc (completed or candidate) in Epidemiology/Health Management
Prior Teaching Experience: 
Successful teaching related to field at college or university level
Required competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
- Candidate will have strong background in general epidemiology and health management. - Demonstrated expertise in food animal production systems, particularly dairy cattle. - Experience with health management approaches in livestock, including disease prevention and epidemiology. - Experience in teaching health management and food animal veterinary practice experience would be an asset. - Experience with teaching DE courses and the ability to demonstrate positive teaching evaluations are assets. - Candidate is expected to have strong communication and organizational skills.

Specific Preferred competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
- Board certification or advanced training in preventive veterinary medicine, epidemiology, or food animal health. - Experience working with Canadian livestock industries or regulatory frameworks. - Familiarity with integrating physiology, microbiology, nutrition, and production management into teaching. - Experience using online learning platforms and tools for distance education delivery.
