Other Course Description or Assignment Information: 
Students will be introduced to one or more major forms of creative nonfiction-memoirs, personal essays, feature articles, reviews, profiles, nature writing, and literary travelogues. Students will craft works of creative nonfiction, share them with their peers, and offer constructive and respectful evaluations of their peers' work in a workshop format. Students will also read excerpts of professionally published creative nonfiction and be encouraged to borrow from, experiment with and playfully alter some of the creative writing techniques displayed by the professional writers.

Prior Teaching Experience: 
Successful teaching related to field at college or university level
Required competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
The University of Guelph undergraduate creative writing program requires an instructor with expertise in creative nonfiction writing. The successful applicant must have extensive published work in the field, as well as experience teaching creative nonfiction writing workshops.

Prior Teaching Experience: 
Successful teaching related to field at college or university level.
Research Experience: 
Quality and or Recent Research activity in related field demonstrating knowledge of current developments in course content.
Specific Preferred competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
Evidence of being a writer whose work is held in demonstrably high regard in the writing and publishing community. Evidence of ongoing creative work in the field. Familiar with and capable of writing and addressing the craft of writing creative nonfiction. Ability to introduce a diverse range of reading material and to consider the cultural implications of writing, particularly with respect to marginalized cultural positions, is an asset.
