The course introduces descriptive and inferential techniques used in quantitative social research. Students will acquire the skills needed to perform statistical analyses and to read the research literature. A standard statistical computer package will be used to perform data analyses. As such, the instructor must have significant experience in the field, in addition to successful experience teaching adult learners in an online environment.

Candidates should provide in their application evidence of prior teaching experience and teaching success/excellence related to course content, which may include a dossier, teaching philosophy, examples of teaching innovations, course developments, evaluations of previously taught courses (e.g., peer evaluations and/or student feedback), reference letters, and any other relevant information they wish to have evaluated by the selection committee (some documents on file in the department or program, such as UofGH Student Feedback Questionnaires of courses taught on UofG contracts, may also be used). Extensive practical experience and/or recent quality research in the application of subject matter. Experience teaching adult learners in online environments, with a demonstrated ability to effectively deliver condensed course content to learners possessing advanced knowledge and professional experience in the course topic. Experience with quantitative social research, with expertise in statistical analysis and data interpretation using standard software tools.

Section DE07 (Session II): This is a distance education course offering. As such, significant online monitoring, supervision and feedback related to student learning activities is required.
