Other Course Description or Assignment Information: 
This position is for the Director and Vocal Director for the University of Guelph’s 2026-2027 mainstage musical theater production, Mean Girls. In the fall semester, this person coordinates the mainstage production’s overarching development. This includes overseeing vocal and blocking rehearsals with the named cast and ensemble (excluding featured dancers) as dictated by the course schedule; working with a rehearsal pianist during rehearsals requiring music; organising intimacy workshops with a trained intimacy coordinator; collaborating with the choreographer, music director, production stage manager, and the production team to coordinate technical (sound, lights, sets, costumes), dance, and stage band elements of the show; and working with the producer team to assist with marketing elements. Should they be assigned, the Director/Vocal Director would also supervise graduate teaching assistants supporting the production.

Artist diploma in Music or equivalent
Prior Teaching Experience: 
Successful teaching related to field at college or university level
Required competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
Experience coaching Music Theatre scene study and ensemble work at the University level. Demonstrated knowledge of MT repertoire, and vocal techniques appropriate to various MT idioms. Professional stage experience
Preferred Qualifications
Prior Teaching Experience: 
Many years of successful teaching related to contents of the course.

Familiarity with training aspects of the University of Guelph Vocal program
Specific Preferred competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
Professional training in voice techniques and vocal physiology particularly contemporary commercial vocals (i.e. belting and musical theatre). Demonstrated experience directing and producing musical theatre productions. Demonstrated experience with theatre production duties (lighting, sound, costumes, and set design).Experience with event promotion and managing rights.
