Demonstrated expertise in ecology, including ecological theory, experimental design, field sampling techniques, data analysis, and interpretation of ecological data. Must have the ability to teach and supervise students in both field and laboratory environments while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and effective learning experience. Experience designing, conducting, and evaluating ecological field and laboratory exercises, including the collection, management, and analysis of biological and environmental data. Must be proficient with quantitative methods and statistical approaches commonly used in ecology, and the ability to guide students in the analysis and interpretation of ecological datasets. Ability to foster critical thinking and scientific inquiry by facilitating discussions on contemporary ecological issues and their relevance to society. Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex ecological concepts and provide constructive and iterative feedback on student work, especially proposal and report development and data analyses. Demonstrated ability to support student learning through effective instruction, mentorship, and assessment in a hands-on experiential learning environment. Familiarity with field and laboratory safety procedures, risk management practices, and applicable university policies related to teaching and supervision of students in applied learning settings. Experience using educational technologies and data analysis software relevant to ecology instruction is considered an asset.
