The IWCA program, launched in 2020 by Annex Business Media’s agriculture publications, recognizes women who are shaping the future of Canadian agriculture through leadership, innovation and impact. Nearly 300 nominations have been submitted since its inception, highlighting trailblazers across research, production, communications and industry leadership. Jones, a professor in OVC's Department of Population Medicine, now joins this distinguished group of nearly 50 past honourees.

This year’s cohort reflects the breadth of expertise driving Canadian agriculture forward. Alongside Jones, the 2026 honourees include:

  • Jennifer Woike, B.C. Ag Council
  • Wen Chen, Agriculture and Agri‑Food Canada
  • Margaret Hudson, Burnbrae Farms
  • Coreen Franke, Nutrien
  • Susan Ainsworth, Keystone Potato Producers Association
  • Tori Waugh, Ontario Soils Network

Jones’ recognition highlights her contributions to advancing animal health and agricultural resilience—work that continues to elevate OVC’s reputation as a leader in veterinary and agricultural research worldwide. Her research focuses on the epidemiology of mental health in farmers and veterinary teams. She is a firm believer in the application of mixed methods in epidemiological research, using a combination of both quantitative and qualitative techniques to improve research outcomes.

The 2026 IWCA program will also introduce a new feature: a virtual roundtable bringing all seven honourees together with editors from Annex’s agriculture publications. The conversation will explore their career paths, the unique challenges and opportunities within their sectors, and the often‑unseen barriers women continue to navigate in agriculture. The roundtable promises an open, candid look at leadership, mentorship and the evolving landscape of the industry.

OVC is proud to see Jones’ work recognized on a national stage and congratulates her on this well‑deserved honour.
