Dr. Charlotte Winder, professor in the Department of Population Medicine, has received the 2026 Emerging Leadership Award from Animal Health Canada (AHC).
The award was presented at the 2026 Animal Health Canada Awards Ceremony, held during the organization's 16th annual Forum in Ottawa. Winder was one of four individuals honoured for their contributions to farmed animal health and welfare in Canada.

AHC recognized Winder for emerging leadership spanning applied research, veterinary practice, animal welfare, producer engagement, education and knowledge translation. The organization highlighted her work in helping translate research into practical improvements in farmed animal health and welfare.
The two-day Forum brought together leaders from government, animal agriculture, veterinary medicine and academia under the theme "Turning insight into action for Canada's animal health and welfare system." AHC is the only national organization that brings together industry, federal, provincial and territorial partners to guide Canada's farmed animal health and welfare system.
Congratulations to Dr. Winder on this well-deserved recognition!
