Guelph Graduate Tuition and Fees

Tuition fees are assessed based on your assigned cohort year. Cohort year refers to the academic calendar year for your first admission to the university OR the calendar year for subsequent admission to a new program or readmission to the same program or a new program.

Domestic Non-Ontario tuition fees do not apply to graduate students.

"The University reserves the right to make changes in the published schedule of fees and payment dates and also to assess charges, which are not included in the schedule of fees, for course material and/or transportation provided at University expense." (Please see the Graduate Calendar)

Students in the Master of Conservation Leadership (MCL), Master of Dairy Technology Management (MDTM), MBA, MA Lead, MA in Mental Health and online MSc, Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs are not billed for all of the University and Student Organization fees above. Total compulsory fees for those programs is $55.42 (in addition to any applicable miscellaneous fees).

Full-time students who are conducting their research at a distance greater than 200 km from Guelph for the entire semester will be responsible only for the tuition, the GSA fees, the Medical Plan and the Dental Plan and, in the case of international students, the UHIP fee (if applicable) for the semester indicated. Exemption from the other student fees must be requested using the Full-Time Distant Fee Status Application form, available on the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies website. Such requests will be considered on an individual basis and must be done for each semester.

Student Health and Dental Plans: Students who were not registered in the fall or winter semester will be assessed the Student Health Plan fee of $94.50. Students who wish to obtain family coverage under the Health Plan must submit a family add-on form by the posted deadline. An additional premium is charged. New incoming students are not automatically enrolled in the Dental Plan, but they can opt in and pay the fee via the Student Benefit Office prior to the applicable deadline.

Students in the Master of Conservation Leadership (MCL), Master of Dairy Technology Management (MDTM), MBA, MA Lead and online MSc, Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs are not billed for all of the University and Student Organization fees above. Total compulsory fees for those programs is $52.12 (in addition to any applicable miscellaneous fees).

Full-time students who are conducting their research at a distance greater than 200 km from Guelph for the entire semester will be responsible only for the tuition, the GSA fees, the Health Plan and the Dental Plan and, in the case of international students, the UHIP fee (if applicable) for the semester indicated. Exemption from the other student fees must be requested using the Full-Time Distant Fee Status Application form, available on the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies website. Such requests will be considered on an individual basis and must be done for each semester.

Full-time students who are conducting their research at a distance greater than 200 km from Guelph for the entire semester will be responsible only for the tuition, the GSA fees, the Health Plan and the Dental Plan and, in the case of international students, the UHIP fee (if applicable) for the semester indicated. Exemption from the other student fees must be requested using the Full-Time Distant Fee Status Application form, available on the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies website. Such requests will be considered on an individual basis and must be done for each semester.

Student Health and Dental Plans: Students who were not registered in the fall or winter semester will be assessed the Student Health Plan fee of $71.25. Students who wish to obtain family coverage under the Health Plan must submit a family add-on form by the posted deadline. An additional premium is charged. New incoming students are not automatically enrolled in the Dental Plan, but they can opt-in and pay the fee via the Student Benefit Office prior to the applicable deadline.

Students in the Master of Conservation Leadership (MCL), MBA, MA Lead, and online MSc, Food Safety, and Quality Assurance programs are not billed for all of the University and Student Organization fees above. Total compulsory fees for those programs are $49.97 (in addition to any applicable miscellaneous fees).

Full-time students who are conducting their research at a distance greater than 200 km from Guelph for the entire semester will be responsible only for the tuition, the GSA fees, the Health Plan and the Dental Plan and, in the case of international students, the UHIP fee (if applicable) for the semester indicated. Exemption from the other student fees must be requested using the Full-Time Distant Fee Status Application form, available on the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies website. Such requests will be considered on an individual basis and must be done for each semester.

Student Health and Dental Plans: Students who were not registered in the fall semester will be assessed the annual fee of $120.00 for the Dental Plan and $142.50 for the Health Plan. The Dental Plan has a limited opt-out period. Students need to provide proof of alternate coverage and submit an online opt-out form. Full-time students who are conducting their research at a distance greater than 200 km from Guelph for the entire semester will be responsible only for the tuition, the GSA fees, the Health Plan and the Dental Plan and, in the case of international students, the UHIP fee (if applicable) for the semester indicated. Exemption from the other student fees must be requested using the Full-Time Distant Fee Status Application form, available on the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies website.
