The minimum admission average required to be considered for co-op programs is normally 80%, but cut-offs are ultimately determined by the quantity and quality of applications as well as the number of places available in the program. Cut-offs normally exceed the estimated ranges.

Students considering applying to the Undeclared option in Bachelor of Commerce who know they want to pursue co-op are encouraged to apply to a major with co-op. It's possible for all students to apply to co-op in their first year but space is limited.

Students not admitted to co-op will automatically be considered for admission to the regular program (see alternate offers below).

There are some programs where we will automatically consider students for an alternate offer. Scenarios include:

  • Students not admitted to co-op will automatically be considered for the regular program.
  • Students who don't present the admission average for Bachelor of Arts, Criminal Justice and Public Policy will be automatically considered for Bachelor of Arts, Justice and Legal Studies.
  • Students who don't present the admission average for Bachelor of Arts, Psychology will be automatically considered for Bachelor of Arts, Sociology.
  • Students who don't present the admission average for Bachelor of Science, Animal Biology or Bio-Medical Science will be automatically considered for Bachelor of Science, Biological Science.

This form is considered along with the admission average in determining admission. Applicants are encouraged to contact Student Accessibility Services as early as possible to discuss their needs and academic background.

The University of Guelph offers both merit-based and needs-based awards.

High-school applicants are automatically considered for a University of Guelph Entrance Scholarship. No application is required.  The scholarship offer will be made with the offer of admission to students who qualify. Whether a scholarship offer is made with an admission offer or not, all eligible students will be reconsidered in May and August and have the opportunity to qualify or better their award.

Our Registrar’s Entrance Bursaries and Accessibility Bursaries are designed for students with financial need. Award amounts range from $4,000 to $14,000. Students are encouraged to apply for these awards before they are admitted by completing the online Financial Needs Assessment Form for Entrance Awards. This form is submitted once, and the information obtained will be used to consider students for all needs-based awards. We hope you will encourage applicants to apply, as we want to ensure that finances are not an obstacle for any of our students or their families. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2026.

Please encourage students to use our Scholarship Search Tool to learn about more scholarships that are right for them!
