Out of Province Students
Why the University of Guelph?
Life at the University of Guelph is all about community. Whether you’re from the next town over or a few provinces away, you belong here.
Our beautiful campus, award-winning food (seriously, students rave about it), and hundreds of clubs, cultural groups, and activities make it easy to find your place and people.
Moving away from home is hard, but with that distance comes opportunity. Coming to the University of Guelph means stepping into a new environment where you’ll grow, discover new passions, and yourself, while opening doors you didn’t even know existed.
Why It's Worth the Move
- The Vibe
- You’ll meet musicians, artists, writers, and creators everywhere you go... at local shows, in coffee shops, and at weekend markets, all walking distance from campus.

- The Work
- You won’t get lost in the crowd. Our programs are small and collaborative, so you’ll work closely with your professors and classmates.

- The Location
- You get the best of both worlds: Guelph’s close-knit, smaller-town community with Toronto's big-city opportunities a short drive away.

Why Creative Arts and Humanities?
People who understand the human experience are the foundation of EVERY industry. In fact, 55% of world leaders are humanities and social sciences graduates (Universities Canada).
Learn to think critically, communicate clearly, and approach challenges with creativity. These abilities go beyond any one job title. They help you adapt, collaborate, and lead in roles across business, law, education, media, technology, and beyond.
A degree in the arts doesn’t just prepare you for one career, it prepares you for whatever comes next:

From Humanities to Website Design
Alumna Spotlight: Meet Callie
She studied Art History and Classical Studies. Now? She's a Web and Digital Media Coordinator.
Did she ever study "Web"? No.
My degree prepared me for my career in tech because I understand how humans interact with the visual world and how they’ve engaged with information throughout history. This makes me a perfect candidate for building web content to meet marketing and consumer needs. I use my communication, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills every day.
Most graduates don’t end up in jobs that match their degree title, and that’s exactly the point. The value of an Creative Arts and Humanities degree isn’t in the job title, but in the wide range of skills that prepare you for success in ANY field.
