- SafeGryphon app is your personal safety companion during your school experience at the University of Guelph.
We encourage our campus community to download the SafeGryphon app. It is available for FREE from the App Store and Google Play. Key features include:
- Emergency Contacts - In an emergency, time is of the essence. Putting you in contact with emergency services is two screen taps away.
- Push Notifications - When notifications are sent via U of G Alert, they are received through this app and displayed on your smartphone even when the app IS NOT running.
- Friend Walk - Send your location in real-time to a friend so they can watch you as you walk to your destination! They can watch you and can trigger a call to emergency services if necessary.
- Report a Tip - Use this to report a non-urgent incident.
- Campus Map - Provides real-time mapping - Find interactive customized maps of the University of Guelph Campus.
- Work Alone - This feature will automatically check on you while you work alone and can automatically alert your emergency contact if you fail to check in at the allotted time.
- SafeWalk - Call this free service that provides a safe and reliable escort after dark for any person on the University of Guelph campus.
- U of G Alert Subscriber Portal - Staff, students, and faculty can access their U of G Alert account to opt in to receive SMS text and phone calls when a notification is sent via U of G Alert.
- U of G Alert is the University’s critical incident notification system.
- Sends critical alerts to registered email addresses and phones (texts and calls).
U of G Alert for Students, Staff, and Faculty
- Your U of G email is automatically registered.
- All members of the University community should add at least one additional contact path via the U of G Alert Subscriber Portal (login with your central login credentials).
- NOTICE TO NEW STUDENTS: You will not be registered in U of G Alert until the start of your first semester. Please update your contact paths once you have started classes.
U of G Alert for Visitors on Campus
Visitors include OpenEd students, contractors, volunteers, or anyone who comes on campus.
There are two ways to get alert messages:
Via SMS / Text:
- Text the word UOGUELPH to 723389 to opt in to receive notifications from U of G Alert.
- Standard message and data rates may apply.
- Message frequency may vary.
- Carriers are not responsible for undelivered messages.
- Text the word STOP to 723389 when you no longer wish to receive these notifications.
Push Notification:
- Install the SafeGryphon app (available for iOS and Android) and enable Push Notifications via About/Preference.
