Fall 2027 Application Deadlines

Step 1 - January 15, 2027
OUAC Application Deadline
Step 2 - February 1, 2027
Supplemental Documents Deadline

Step 1: OUAC Application

Log into or create an account for the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) to begin the initial online application for the University of Guelph.

Read and follow the instructions in the OUAC application very carefully and enter all applicable information. You may leave the Statement of Academic Intent section blank as it will be submitted as a supplemental document in Step 2.

NOTE: If you have an existing OUAC account from a previous application, do not create a new account. Please log in using your existing account. If you need assistance recovering your account details, please email OUAC at gradapps@ouac.on.ca.

From the program list, navigate to your program of choice.

You will also be asked if you have communicated with a graduate faculty member. If you are apply to a course-based Masters program then you may indicate 'NO' for this question.

If you are applying to any of the thesis-based programs listed below, then we recommend reaching out to the department or browsing faculty research interests (via the Lang Directory) within the department to confirm whether your research interests align:

  • Master of Science (MSc) in Management Research, Marketing and Consumer Studies or Tourism and Hospitality Management
  • PhD in Management

Please make sure to include your complete post-secondary academic background, including university and colleges. This includes all degrees, diploma programs, exchange semesters, courses taken on Letter of Permission, and courses taken towards a degree that was not completed.

You have the option of ordering official (sealed) transcripts through OUAC for a fee. This is not required as we accept unofficial transcripts uploaded to WebAdvisor in Step 2.

An official copy of your transcript is only required if you accept an offer of admission.

If your first language is not English you will be required to submit the results of a standardized language test.

If your first language is not English but you have completed prior post-secondary studies in English, you may submit a formal request (in the form of a letter) to waive the English language proficiency test requirement via the English language document upload on WebAdvisor in Step 2.

For more information, please see English Language Requirements (Frequently Asked Questions).

We require a minimum of two references with an option to submit a third reference if you wish. At this stage you are simply providing the contact information of your reference so they can be emailed the Referee Assessment Form.

Please note that referee assessments are due on the Supplemental Documents Deadline listed above, so ensure you give your referee plenty of time to prepare and complete your reference.

After entering and verifying all required information, complete the application fee payment. A non-refundable application fee of $125 CAD is required for each program you apply to.

MBA, MA Leadership, MPACC and MRE have an application fee of $150 CAD.

Please note: This fee is non refundable and is payable to OUAC. Our office only receives applications from OUAC once payment has been processed.

Step 2: Required Documents

Within 5-7 business days of submitting your application through OUAC, you will receive login details to upload the required documents to WebAdvisor. You have 5 minutes after uploading a document to change the file in case of an error.

For troubleshooting document upload, please see the FAQ below.

For your application to be considered complete, you must upload each document successfully and your referees must have completed their references by the application deadline. If you have any questions, contact lang_admissions@uoguelph.ca.

Upload an unofficial transcript for each academic degree/diploma listed in Step 1. For transcripts not in English, please ensure to also include a translated version in the same file.

An official copy of your transcript is only required if you accept an offer of admission.

If you requested an official transcript through OUAC in Step 1, it will be automatically uploaded to your account and you do not upload an unofficial copy of the same transcript to WebAdvisor.

For more information, please see Transcripts (Frequently Asked Questions).

Upload your CV to "Resume/CV."

Ensure all your relevant academic, employment, volunteer, and research experience is listed and described in detail.

The statement of interest/research is used to outline your objectives for undertaking your graduate program and to describe how and why this program is a good fit for your academic and professional goals.

For thesis-based programs, expand on your research interests and demonstrate familiarity and alignment with current faculty research areas.

For course-based or professional programs, speak to your business/managerial/leadership related competencies, your strengths, areas for improvement, core values and how

Although there is no specific format required, the suggest length for the statement is 1-2 pages.

For thesis-based programs, your GMAT, GMAT Focus or GRE score report can be uploaded to the "Supplemental Document" section on WebAdvisor.

Each reference listed in Step 1 of your application will receive an email with a link directing them to the Referee Assessment form. They will be rating your skills in a range of categories. For professional references, they may mark "Unable to Judge" in categories related to academics.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you need to change or delete an uploaded document after the 5-minute grace period, complete this online request.

Calculate your admission average using your grades from the final two years of full-time equivalent study (4-6 semesters) of your previous degree.

For the typical bachelor's degree, this will be 20 (0.5 credit weight) courses, but you'll need a minimum of 16 courses in your calculation. If you took a double weight (1.0 credits) course, that grade is counted twice.

You must also include the grade from each course you completed in a given semester (i.e. do not split a semester).

If your transcript uses letter grades, look up your university's grading scale and convert the letters to percentage grades.

Yes, all UofG students are required to submit an unofficial transcript to WebAdvisor

References are a critical component of any application to graduate school. The following guidelines will help you through the process:

  • Request references early. Allow at least 3 weeks for your referee to complete the form.
  • Prepare your referee with information that will help them complete the form. Share your draft Statement of Interest with them. You can remind them of your key strengths and accomplishments that they can attest to.
  • For an academic reference, choose faculty carefully. First approach professors who have taught you in senior-level courses and ask if they can provide you with a strong reference.
  • Inform your referee of the application deadline and ask them to confirm that they have completed your reference.

Applications for graduate studies at the University of Guelph are processed through the third-party Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC). As it is not our office that levies the fee, we are not able to offer a waiver for the application fee.
