Held as part of OVC's 2026 Orientation Week programming, the retreat at Camp Ki-Wa-Y in St. Clements, Ontario, brought students together outside the classroom to build connections with classmates and develop the teamwork and communication skills that are foundational to success in veterinary medicine.

OVC is grateful to Crow Shield Lodge for starting the retreat day in a good way.

Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of collaborative activities, including canoeing, climbing challenges, outdoor team-building exercises and shared meals.

The annual Orientation Camp serves as an important first step in fostering a supportive and connected learning environment. As students begin their DVM journey, opportunities to build relationships, strengthen communication skills and develop peer support networks help lay the foundation for both academic and professional success.

VCA Canada supports student success

OVC is grateful for VCA Canada's longstanding partnership and commitment to student success. Through its continued sponsorship of communication and teambuilding initiatives, VCA Canada is helping to prepare the next generation of veterinarians with the resilience, collaboration and interpersonal skills needed to thrive in practice and serve their communities.

Thank you, VCA Canada, for investing in the future of veterinary medicine and helping the DVM Class of 2030 start their OVC experience with connection, confidence and community.
