About Richard
Dr. Richard G. Zytner (PhD, P.Eng., FEC, FCSCE) joined the School of Engineering at the University of Guelph as a faculty member in 1991 and became interim dean of CEPS in late 2021. He has held numerous leadership roles within CEPS during his time here, including interim dean previously in 2017.
In his research, Dr. Zytner seeks to reduce the impact of human practices on the planet, particularly with food, waste, and water. His focus includes soil remediation technology, landfill gas management and wastewater treatment in the fresh-cut fruit and vegetable sector, with practical applications for producers and processors. He is a member of Professional Engineers Ontario, Engineers Canada, the International Water Association, the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, and the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste.
Dr. Zytner received his PhD from the University of Windsor and worked in the private sector as a project manager and engineering consultant prior to joining U of G.
