Study at the Ontario Agricultural College

Study all things connected to food, plants, animals and the environment.

When it comes to food, plants, animals and the environment, no other university in Canada can offer you this sort of variety when it comes to courses, experiential learning and career opportunities (literally around the world).

But wait…. did we say, “agriculture college”?

Yup, the name is a bit misleading or maybe just misunderstood. At the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) of the University of Guelph, we’ve been re-defining agriculture since 1874. Today OAC is one of the seven colleges (groups of academic departments often called “faculty” at other universities) that make up U of G. We’ve grown and changed over the last 150 years, and our research and academic programs have expanded to match the most pressing issues in society. And your niche interests.

You may be very interested in studying agriculture or totally confused about why you’re even still reading this… but stick with us! Agriculture is complex, high tech and connected to all things. We think about agriculture as the full process. From plant biology to marketing and trade, from animal care to food science, from environmental science to policy development.

I decided to study at U of G because of the amazing landscape architecture program! I loved that it combines science and design, as well as being the only accredited undergraduate landscape architecture program in Canada. I had only heard good things about the community and culture here at Guelph.

When I was in high school, I knew that I was passionate about the environment and sustainability, but I didn’t know what the best way was to get involved. U of G provided me with the flexibility to choose among four majors in the environmental sciences degree.

The University of Guelph was my dream school from grade 9! I have loved animals and agriculture my entire life and Guelph is so well known for their agriculture and veterinary programs. I visited the campus in grade 11 and immediately felt at home and welcomed with open arms. The campus was beautiful, and the food options were incredible (especially because I am vegetarian)!
