The research centres in FARE provide independent, credible, and timely policy analysis with respect to socially significant food and agricultural issues.
The Institute for the Advanced Study of Food and Agricultural Policy aims to attract and educate competent students to food and agricultural economics. The Institutes hosts and co-host policy conferences, support FARETalk (podcast), support FAREShare (newsletter), provide commodity price forecasting, house efficiency benchmarking tools for producers, and finally develop and maintain commodity market models for "what if" policy analysis.
The FARE Lab uses laboratory and field experiments to explore a wide range of human decision-making. Current research mainly focuses on innovation adoption and market behaviour in an agri-food-environmental context. Specific topics include nudges, behavioural response to risk and uncertainty, natural resource conservation, provision of public goods, and novel food consumption. The FARE Lab has 35 high power tablets that are equipped to be ready for controlled experiments in the lab and field. This mobility feature allows the research team to investigate economic and policy questions in various contexts.

The Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics (FARE) is a research-intensive department dedicated to advancing agricultural economics, agribusiness, food economics, and resource economics. With a focus on impactful research and evidence-based policy, FARE integrates applied research into its undergraduate and graduate programs, preparing future leaders in the agri-food and resource sectors.
