CTS*1000 Culture and Technology: Keywords

The course will introduce core concepts and skills for digital literacy in connection with big questions facing culture and society. Students will explore the keywords used to think through the relationships between information and communication technologies and big ideas related to ethics, culture, and how we understand what it is to be human. Students will learn to write for a web audience through the creation of their own weblog.

Power, Identities & Equity

Students in this area of emphasis focus on the intersection of identities such as gender, sexuality, race, class, (dis)ability and Indigeneity as they are reimagined in digital culture and by digital technology.

 

Storytelling & Public Humanities

Students in this area of emphasis focus on the relationship between digital culture, data, public discourse, and narrative.

 

Performance, Making & Design

Students in this area of emphasis learn to integrate their knowledge from core CTS classes into a variety of methods of making, creating, and performance.

Gryph Puppet

gryph sockThe now old and wise Gryph Puppet recounts its life as a university student during the shocking, shaking days of the pandemic era in 2020. The changing times was not familiar for the young and curious puppet as it attempts to adjust its life to the new campus rules. No longer can the puppet cough in public without getting death stares from people on the bus.
