The Department of Political Science at the University of Guelph invites applications for a 3-year contractually-limited position at the Assistant Professor level.
The Department of Political Science at the University of Guelph seeks an applicant with research and teaching interests in the area of comparative or international Law and Justice for a three-year contractually limited position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The substantive focus is open, including but not limited to such areas as international development law; international, comparative or transnational criminal law; international or comparative environmental law; international or comparative human rights; comparative, transnational or international Indigenous law and justice, comparative judicial systems, or international law and organizations.
The successful applicant will teach one or more of the following courses: Comparative Law and Courts (POLS*3550), International Law and Organizations (POLS*3020), and Advanced Topics in Global Law and Courts (POLS*4020). In addition to teaching these and other law and justice related courses in Political Science at the undergraduate and graduate-levels, the successful candidate would be expected to contribute to other dimensions of the Political Science program, such as in Comparative Politics, International Relations, or the Politics of Identity.
The successful candidate will have a PhD or be ABD in Political Science or related discipline with an excellent research record and demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching commensurate with their experience.
The Political Science Department at the University of Guelph offers a BA, MA, and PhD in Political Science and a BA in Justice and Legal Studies. The Department co-administers BA and MA programs Criminal Justice and Public Policy and collaborates in other interdisciplinary programs such as International Development and Environmental Governance.
