Educational Merit Review

The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) is an autonomous and independent body, created in 1968 to oversee the ethical use of animals in science and teaching in Canada. The University of Guelph adheres to the policies and guidelines of the CCAC. As part of executing its responsibilities, the University recently created the Educational Review Committee to provide peer review of the use of animals in educational settings, particularly those outside degree or diploma credit courses which undergo rigorous review through the various bodies of Senate. Animal utilization protocols go electronic

The Animal Utilization Protocol submission and review process is moving to an electronic system beginning May 2012. The new system, administered by Animal Care Services, has been under development since August 2011. Animal Care Services will be offering a series of training sessions throughout April and May in various departments to assist in familiarizing users with the new system in preparation for the May 14, 2012 official roll out date. After that date, all new protocols must be submitted and processed within the new electronic environment. Read more here…[link]
