Graduate Programs

Graduate programs in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences focus on physical activity and diet as powerful lifestyle determinants of human health. The interaction between genetics and environmental factors ultimately determines the health of an individual. Lifestyle is a major component of our environment that can be modified to affect human health.

In both the MSc and PhD programs, students can choose one of three specializations:

  • Biomechanics
  • Nutrition, Exercise, and Metabolism
  • Nutrition and Nutraceutical Sciences

The Department of Human Health Sciences also contributes to the Master of Medical Foundations program, along with Molecular and Cellular Biology.

Master of Medical Foundations

The Master of Medical Foundations (MMF) is an 11-month, course-based graduate program providing both theoretical and practical training in human anatomy, multisystem physiology, and disease and immunology, with a focus on the role of lifestyle medicine and social dimensions of health and wellbeing.

Collaborative Specializations

A collaborative specialization is an intra-university graduate field of study that provides an additional multidisciplinary experience for students enrolled in and completing the degree requirements for their MSc or PhD in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences degree.
