By Abbey Drew

University of Guelph researchers are developing an artificial intelligence (AI) system to predict early outbreaks of avian influenza. Led by Dr. Rozita Dara, from the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, the project brings together experts from CEPS and the Ontario Veterinary College. The team is creating a predictive surveillance tool to help detect and respond to avian influenza outbreaks sooner, aiming to protect animal health, reduce economic impacts, and improve disease management across the poultry sector.
